Vacancy Executive Manager: Practice

The South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) currently has a vacancy for the position of Executive Manager: Practice, at its Head Office based in Randburg, Johannesburg.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairperson of the National Practice Committee. Some of the key deliverables for this important position, include the following:

  • Co-ordinating the work of the National Practice Committee, as well as implementing the expected deliverables;
  • Liaising with the various Regional Practice Committees and ensuring that challenges identified, are effectively addressed with the relevant authorities;
  • Representing SAIA at different forums held with key Stakeholders;
  • Co-ordinating the engagement at all three spheres of relevant Government Departments (National, Provincial & Local) and Agencies as part of the advocacy role, seeking to promote a conducive practice environment for SAIA members;
  • The undertaking of other tasks or activities as assigned by the CEO and/or the Chairperson of the National Practice Committee.

Experience Summary

SAIA envisages an energetic, Senior Professional Architect with at least 15 years' experience and who has an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory and contractual aspects of architectural practice. Knowledge of architectural practice and a thorough knowledge of dispute resolution and arbitration processes followed within the Built Environment, are essential.


Preferably, the candidate will be based at the SAIA Head Office in Randburg, Johannesburg. However, candidates who are based outside Gauteng Province, will also be considered.


A competitive total cost to company salary package is offered. The successful candidate will be expected to sign a Performance Contract with the CEO and quarterly performance reviews will be undertaken.
